The proposed Punta Perla real estate development is once again making headlines. Reports are that President Leonel Fernandez is being asked to testify in what is being described as a case of fraud, re the long-standing legal dispute between Spaniards Carlos Sanchez and Andres Leitor and Ricardo Miranda Miret, among other difficulties facing the development of the property adjacent to Cabeza de Toro in Punta Cana.
HRH Prince Albert of Monaco promoted the Punta Perla development and broke ground for the east coast development together with President Fernandez in December 2008.
As reported in the Spanish press, President Fernandez will be asked to send a testimonial statement about a multi-million fraud that affects more than 100 UK families that purchased property at the development. The purchasers, according to news reports, did not have purchase insurance nor were the funds retained in escrow.
