Consumers have felt some relief as a result of steadily declining fuel prices that have fallen by RD$33.80 and RD$25.80 for premium and regular gasoline. For several consecutive weeks the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has been announcing fuel price cuts, reflecting the decline in world market prices. Taxi unions have announced minor reductions in fares, although these are much less than the increases they made when fuel prices went up. Petrol prices again declined over the weekend.
