The Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD) announced that exports were up 18.33% in January 2011 compared to January 2010. Non duty free exports in January 2011 were US$347.77 million compared to US$289.89 million in January 2010. Traditional exports were up to US$29.86 million from US$12.36 for the month in 2010. Mineral exports increased to US$4.88 million. Non-traditional exports were up to US$313.03 million compared to US$277.11.
Eddy Martinez, head of CEI-RD, said that exports in 2010 were up 18.6% compared to 2009 and the upward trend continues this year.
He said that in 2010 the DR exported US$6.5 billion, compared to US$5.52 billion in 2009.
