You all have been very helpful. I have a couple of last minute questions before my trip Saturday.

I will arrive in Santiago. Where do I find a taxi to take me to Blackbeards? Will I have a problem getting someone to take me that far with little spanish?

I know it should cost 70 to 80 US. Is there a place in the airport where I can get a reasonable exchange rate? Is it ok to pay in dollars? I was in Santo Domingo a few years ago and I am pretty sure you must use DR money.

Am I right in figuring it is about an hour ride?

its closer to 2 hrs depending upon traffic/road conditions. Figure $80-$90 US for a ride one way. You should be able to find someone to drive you VERY basic spanish phrases. Ask them to take you to a cambio or bank for change in Santiago. Santiago will give a better exhcnage rate than Blackbeards. Today you should get between 32.8 and 33 pesos for a dollar. Do a currency search on yahoo and use their currency converter to check daily exchange rates as a gauge. Have a good trip and report back to us with photos!
