The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is warning all captains of small craft to be extremely cautious along the Atlantic Coast, especially in the area off of Maria Trinidad Sanchez: Nagua, Cabrera and Matancitas. Onamet advises boat owners to pay close attention to the bulletins from the Civil Defense and the Dominican Navy. They say that there might well be coastal flooding for the next 24-48 hours. Meteorologists say that 10 to 12-foot waves are being caused by a deep low-pressure area out in the Atlantic. Meanwhile, the weather forecast also brings good news. A high-pressure area in the North Atlantic is hindering the formation of clouds, and so the weather bureau is forecasting clear and sunny skies.
