The Santo Domingo City Government (ADN) insists on imposing taxation announced in December on property in the National District. Patricia Alvarez and lawyers Melissa Sosa and Cristian Martinez represented the hoteliers and lawyer Fermin Acosta, represented the Association of Builders and Promoters of Real Estate (Acoprovi) at the meeting that was head by the president of the Municipal Council, Winnie Terrero yesterday at the city hall to discuss the charges. Also participating were city councilors Cesar Cabrera of the PRD, Julian Roa of the PLD and Juan Gonzalez of the PRSC.

Sosa and Martinez, speaking for the hoteliers, said that when they attended the meeting at the City Hall yesterday the authorities had no proposal to make in response to their claim that the new tax on property is in violation of the Constitution and should be revoked. The groups say they have initiated legal recourse against the imposition of the double taxation on property by the city government.

Lawyers Martinez and Sosa said that if the city government does not revoke the taxation that is in violation with the Constitution, they would pursue the case in court.
