The Ministry of Environment has announced the creation of a commission that will be in charge of designing a Management Plan for the Cabo Cabron and Cabo Samana Protected Areas. The commission will be responsible for establishing the standards and rules that will guide owners of properties on their adequate use according to the protected area category of the lands.
The members of the commission are Executive Branch Environment advisor Eleuterio Martinez, protected area specialist Pedro Arias, legislator Miguel Angel Jazmin of the PLD, Juan Jose Morales of the PRD, cartographer Iris Santos Grullon, National Environmental Protection Service deputy director Colonel Genaro Agramonte and lieutenant Jimmy Nunez Castillo, administrator of the Samana protected area.
As reported in Listin Diario, landowners in the protected area will be subject to what is established for land use in the new plan, or they can request the sale of the property to the state.
