Luz y Fuerza is accusing the government-owned electricity distribution company EdeNorte of dumping prices for electricity in Samana, in unfair competition with the private power supplier. Luz y Fuerza has been the leading electricity company in Samana for 17 years. The company says it did not receive subsidies from the government. Luz y Fuerza legal advisor Froilan Tavares Cross said that they had demanded an explanation from Eduardo Saavedra, the Chilean administrator of EdeNorte. He said the government supplier is violating the law by offering prices below the tariff established by the Superintendence of Electricity.
