Guillermo Moreno will run in the 2012 presidential election representing the Alianza Pais minority political party. Moreno made a name for himself as a law-enforcing prosecutor general. This will be his second run for President.
In his acceptance speech for the candidacy yesterday, he said he was committed to the rule of the law in a country where institutions are almost nonexistent. He becomes the first presidential candidate to be officially recognized by the Central Electoral Board.
In the 2008 presidential election, Moreno received 18,136 votes. He ran on the MIUCA ballot.
