There has been praise for the appointment of Josefina Pimentel as the new Minister of Education. Just recently, INTEC had recognized the director of the governmental Professional and Technical Training Institute (INFOTEP) for her achievements in that post.
The new praise and high expectations for her new challenge come from within government and the outside educational sector. Higher Education Minister Ligia Amada Melo stressed the efficiency Pimentel had shown when at the Ministry of Education as deputy minister in charge of technical pedagogical matters from 1996-2000. Pimentel was also in charge of pedagogy at the UASD.
Georges Santoni, president of Educa, a civic campaign for education, said that Pimentel represents a guarantee for the carrying out of the titanic work that the educational system needs now. He expressed his approval at the appointment on the grounds that she has the capacity, experience and proven service vocation for the post.
