Fuel prices are climbing at a faster pace in the DR, now that the price of fuel is climbing significantly on world markets. Last week the Ministry of Industry & Commerce announced an increases of more than RD$4 to gasoline and diesel, reaching almost the record prices of the week 5-11 July 2008 when the price of a barrel of oil reached US$147.
Propane was up RD$1.54, to a record RD$96.76 a gallon, a record level. The previous record was RD$95.68 for the week 13-19 September 2008.
The new prices of premium gasoline is RD$195.40 and RD$185.20 for regular gasoline. Premium diesel sells for RD$175.90 and regular diesel RD$170.50, as reported in El Caribe.
