10 family members die in crash

A freight truck parked on the side of the Bani-Azua highway caused the death of 10 family members and injured 7 on Sunday. The tragedy occurred on the section known as El Numero when the driver of a truck traveling north flashed his high beams and the driver of a minibus in which the family was traveling lost visibility and crashed into the freight truck that was parked with its lights off. The family and friends were headed to the last prayers for the death of a woman who has been identified as Dr. Aquino, a resident of Las Matas de Farfan. The family defended their driver, denying that a swerve had caused the crash that occurred at 5:30am. The bus had left from Santiago at 1am. Seven of the 15 occupants of the vehicle died instantly, most lived in Cienfuegos and Gurabo in Santiago.
