President Leonel Fernandez has sent the Bill for the National Development Strategy 2030 to Congress. The bill, which establishes a long-term vision for the country, was prepared with the assistance of the Harvard University Center for International Development and widespread local consultations.

Recently, representatives of the Association of Industries of Herrera and the Federation of Industries (FAI) said that the DR is a nation devoid of action, despite all the discussions that have taken place and the agreements that have been reached.

"We have the agreements of the National Dialogue, the Summit for Governance, the National Development Plan, the National Competitiveness Plan, the Jacques Attali Report, and now the report prepared by the Harvard University Center for International Development, said Wadi Cano Acra and Ignacio Mendez, presidents of the AEIH and FAI, as quoted in Hoy.

The AEIH and the FAI expressed regret that "there is a divorce between the generation of plans and the execution of actions," in the country, especially among the governing and political elite, as reported in Hoy. They said that businesspeople could not be exonerated of all blame.

"We have to ensure that the actions come before the speeches; we need political will to move to action and end the filing of studies and diagnostics that say the same because we know what has to be done to make this country viable," they emphasized.
