View Full Version : Newbie Looking to make his first trip - April/May 2011

Gents,

I am a Newbie looking to make his first trip to the Caribbean in April or May (2011). I say I am a Newbie, but I have been to a few places in SE Asia - Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan & China. So, this wouldn’t be my first trip chasing the ladies, but it would be my first adventure in the Caribbean.

I am hoping to catch up with some more experienced travelers to maximize the fun quotient and avoid some of the typical pitfalls. There are some great threads on here that specifically detail first time experiences, however there is nothing better than being a wingman for a seasoned veteran.

I don't have any real preference as to the destination - I haven't made any firm plans as of yet. I would be inclined to drag my scuba gear with me, depending on the venue.

I am in my late 30's, in decent shape and can hold my own when beer is involved. I don't know any Spanish, but am thinking I will look at doing a little bit of studying before I head out.

The best way to approach this is to post a few trip reports about the places that you been to so guys can decide what type of wingman you would be.

look at the countdown section and see when and where some of the members are going. See some timings that work, and plan your trip.

Read some of those members trip reports, add some comments, post some of your trip reports, and become part of the community.

Have a look at the trip report pictures and check out the DR girls.. then the MDE ones... figure out your style.
For me it's an easy choice :)
