President Leonel Fernandez will address the country on Thursday. He will speak through a network of radio and television stations, and is expected to announce measures to counter the volatility of food prices, fuels, and raw materials with a plan for energy and fuel savings. For this to be achieved, it is expected that the President will hold meetings with business sector representatives between today and tomorrow as a way of obtaining a consensus on the measures taken by the Council of Ministers last week.

Diario Libre reminded readers that during last Wednesday's meeting of the Council of Ministers in the Presidential Palace, two commissions were created to reach a consensus on this issue with representatives of the nation's productive sectors. One of the consulting commissions with the business sector is made up of the ministers of the Presidency, Presidential Administration, Industry and Commerce, Hacienda, Environment and the Metropolitan Bus Service Office (OMSA). The other commission, which will deal with food related issues, is made up of the Ministry of Agriculture, the government's Economic Kitchens, the Price Stabilization Institute and the Presidential Social Plan. Presidential press secretary Rafael Nunez said that the President would speak on prime time television on Thursday night.
