If you haven't been to the DR before I can GUARANTEE it won't be dull!

One suggestion if you are at Playa Dorada would be to drop in to Field of Dreams Inn and introduce yourself to the proprietor, Bill Lane (Dominican Billy) and/or his son and manager Chris Lane. It might be tactful to buy a few drinks or a meal there (at their very reasonable prices) and I sure they will point you in the right direction. Best time to catch Billy might be when the restaurant opens at 8.00am.

Field of Dreams is 15 to 30 minutes walk from Playa Dorada depending upon where exactly in Playa Dorada you are (it's a big area). Sunday morning is a good time. Several ex-pats gather there for breakfast and you could learn a lot in an hour. (They will all give you different advice but that is the DR!).

I am not clear about your dates. Are you only there for one day (Dec 26th) or is that the start date? Also why are you staying at Playa Dorada? Are you with family or friends? Does that mean you need to be discreet about your mongering?

I am sure there will be only 20% as many chicas available over the holiday period, but then there will only be 20% as many punters for them. That still leaves you a hundred or so chicas to choose from in the immediate area (Puerto Play to Sosua). That should be enough for your first trip.

I should have been more clear, sorry Dec 26-31 so 6 days at the Grand Ventana..which was a gift from a friend. I know it allows no guests so I have double booked myself at Billys already. I am an ex Brit/Canadian pat, so I loved your writing. Very informative and articulate and it seems you enjoy the friends and the girls.

I am a bit of an oddball as I am very picky about which girl I want to hang with. I am not the kind to get drunk and pick up anything, At this point in my life if there is 100 girls I am sure I will find one. If there is someone hot with a great attitude I will take them for a few days. I dont speak Spanish but I am an expolorer of sorts and have usually travelled around on my own with no problem. I guess I am going to need a car or a bike all the way out there, I Just wanted someone to guide me around and show me the ropes for a few days which Billy or his son can do.
I have done that for other people in other countries like Thailand etc.

Dave, I promise, if you have booked at Field of Dreams for that period you cannot fail to have a great time. Billy and Chris know everywhere to go. Billy's only limitation was that he was always so busy running the hotel (running anything in the DR is not straightforward) that he did not have as much time to socialise with guests as he would have liked. Now Chris is there as manager (since September), together with another recent and significant change in the arrangements, Billy should have more free time. If there are lots of guests about there will inevitably be lots of chicas. They use GPS (Gringo Positioning System) to alert them to their prey. But if it is quiet, then Billy and Chris will have more time to socialise with you. You can't lose either way.

To clarify this a little, what Jimmy means is that during the holiday season, pickpocketing and chain snatching increases substancially.

If you're a guy that likes to use gold chains or bracelets of any sort, leave them at home.

The Dominican Tigueres ( young guys) are very good at snatching those items when you least expect it. It doesn't matter if you're walking, riding a motoconcho, or in a car with the windows open.

And don't let girls rub up against ya and grab your nuts. Keep your $$ in a safe place, and carry a cheap wallet with copies of your docs, not the real things.
Carry the $$ you need, and keep some in each pocket. That will protect you from 95% of the problems.

Ok, I really fit in on this board. Born In the east end of London (whitechapel) Until 12 years old, then moved to Toronto Canada lived in North York, Now live in New Jersey in the north near the city. I have three passports as you can see. Brit subject, Canadian and US citizen.
So I have been reading like a fiend here to catch up. Info is coming in slowly. I am finding out that most of the hardcore girls are insane, hopped up on drugs and wanna steal your shit. I am finding that most of the semi pros are the ones to find if you can, but not many in in Sosua. So I contacted a friend who lives there, an ex musician. I am in the music biz and we kind of have some unwritten laws. Musicians mostly try to tap pornstars. Who by the way are also screwed up for the most part, but know how to be freaks in the bedroom. He says its really hard to find top shelf pussy and you do need a hookup. Someone that knows someone who has a number. He said a cell phone is a must have!!
He is married and bored but is hunting around for me. I am not looking for a Novia, trust me on that.
He lives in Santa Domingo, his wife is a JUDGE!! no kidding, so no hookup from her.

The thing about Rio that is pretty cool is that most of the women are insanely hot, No I mean REALLY HOT.
I do know that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I love adventure. So far DR sounds like Jamaica meets Paterson NJ which is a fun time. I am a firm beleiver in trading info, thats what the board is for. So if anyone has good info I am willing to share on the NYC area and the Rio area. I pretty well know that keeping the price down there is important to the big picture and not taking any shit from people is also important. I live in NYC so thats not a problem, everyone you pass on the street has their hand out!
I think what I am really finding out here on this board is that this is a brotherhood, there is a great comraderie, a lot of guys meet there and have fun and share stories . Its almost as much fun as the women. Its kind of like Hedonism for Guys.
