Any good stories from those that spent Semana Santa in DR? I haven't been able to go since 2005 and my only hope is to live it vicariously through this board. To paraphrase our Hebrew brothers - Next Year in Cabarete!

Well Good Friday did mean less action during the day.

Passions was unfortunately closed...one of my favorite places to sneak away and get an afternoon taste...

Sat meant business as usual and the beach was packed...

They bus them in from the MOON.

Well no good stories I just spent a yesterday at BB's Bikini Contest traffic was heavy The Malecon was packed with vendors and people it seemed like the Chicos out numbered the Chicas 5 to 1.

Sorry, I dont have any juicy stories either.
I met up with jcrew from the board..he's a cool guy.

I was there in the thick of it Friday night for about 5 hours..
I was also on the beach in Sosua, and Cabarete both Thursday and Friday afternoon.

The beach was packed..The cleanup is going to a huge effort..there were bottles and trash left all over the beach.

For anyone who has not been...there were literally thousands of people on the Cabarete beach all night long.
Up until midnight its just people hanging out drinking talking...but you can feel the energy building..right at midnight all hell breaks lose and the music starts.

There were maybe ten different stages set up with DJ's and bands playing (loud) all night long.

Lot's of folks with money in town too..VIP was $100 in some places.
Hummer's, BMW's, Range Rovers, (a) Ferrari, Benzes, Escalades..etc etc..
Presidentes in a can was 150 pesos..:surprised:

The chica talent level was off the hook...my neck was snapping left/right all night.
I got some attention/eye fucking from lots of 7's, 8's...but there were so many dimes..I was shooting for top shelf.
My spanish is not great, but I got a few numbers..
I did not score...even got straight up ignored/dissed by a few dimes.

Drove to Sosua at maybe 3am to try to find a Classico's chica to pound out my frustrations on...jajaja... (my intentions were to try the new Cabana's out) but did not see one worth pulling...(I am picky as hell).

Went back to Cabarete about 4am and hung on the beach for a little while before taking it in for the night.

I missed Saturday night..(my flight out was Saturday afternoon from Santiago)

Semana Santa in Cabarete is something all of you need to see at least once if you love the DR.

Other random things I remember from the weekend..

I met Ohmmmm, checked out his spot...really nice work he's doing there. Really nice guy.

I chatted with BiG D in front of his spot on Sosua beach for a while..

I witnessed a beach boxing challenge on Cabarete Beach.
Some skinny guy who needed to see a Dentist about 10 years ago was taking all challengers.
I'm not sure who the gloves belonged to or how this got all set up...but there was a big crowd watching him take people out.
They would box/spar until someones knee hit the sand. Great entertainment..lot's of wild haymakers thrown, and all in fun..

On a strange note...
I saw LOT'S of guys who I perceived to be fags...seemed a little odd to me.
But hey...more chocha for me...LOL
I'm almost sure that the dancers at Bambu..(on podiums in front of the bar) were trannies.

Anyone ever notice that Dominican brothers and sisters are waaaay more touchy feely than Americans..
On more than one occasion I would meet a girls brother..or see him in a picture with her..and the pose would be something like "Me and my girl"...NOT "Me and my sister".

The Politur commandante told there were up to 20,000 people on Cabarete beach on Saturday afternoon with the usual traffic nightmare Saturday evening.

The pickpockets had a field day, 10 people I know were victims.

I too saw the infamous Moca travestis in town. There are here every year.

Agree that Semana Santa in Cabarete is something that everyone needs to experience at least once. It's muy loco!!!!
