Sponsored by Caribbean Export and the European Union, designers from the Caribbean will be meeting at Design Caribbean, the international fair of Caribbean Designers. The exhibition will take place in Santo Domingo from 1 to 4 September. Exhibitors and buyers from 30 countries in the Caribbean, North America and Europe are taking part, as reported in El Nacional. The event is a follow up to the European Partnership Act and seeks to stimulate cultural integration and cooperation, as well as strengthen capacities and independence of culture industries between states and promote regional, local and culture.
Pamela Coke Hamilton was in Santo Domingo to make the announcement. She said this year the plan is to continue promoting Caribbean design as singular and fascinating to attract the attention of national and international buyers.
