The International Committee of Commemorative Memorial Victims of Public Crimes (ICMEMO) is meeting in Santo Domingo for their 10th world conference on Sunday, 29 May. The conference is named: "Memory and Justice: As the Museums, Archives and Historical Memory Centers Contribute to the Democratic Development of Society. "

President Leonel Fernandez is expected to address the conference attendees at 7pm on Sunday, 29 May.

The work sessions are set for 30 May to 3 June 2011 and mark the inaugural week of the Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance.

The new museum stores more than 168,000 documents about Trujillo's regime. It is located at Arzobispo Nouel 210, in Colonial City of Santo Domingo. Tel 809 563 3463. The meeting coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the murder of the 69-year old dictator and the fall of the 30-year dictatorship, one of the bloodiest in the Americas.
