India is far away from the Dominican Republic, but the emerging Asian country is offering dozens of scholarships for short courses in areas of higher learning, supporting the push by the Fernandez administration to train the country's top minds.
The scholarships cover travel, living expenses and tuition fees and are available to Dominican citizens with knowledge of English.
The deadline for applications is 10 June. The Ministry of Higher Education has published a long list of short courses lasting 4 to 12 weeks in a number of careers that are important in the DR. These will be offered from July to October.
Courses range from studies in accounting and auditing, to graphic design and web design, IT network support, 3D animation, e-government, CADD engineering, multimedia and advanced web design, telemedicine, open code web applications, e-learning course design, design of applications for architecture, broadband technologies, IP networks and advanced routing technologies, advanced software course, computer and network hardware course, network security course, management of wi-fi networks, optic network course, human resources planning, human resources training, business research and data analysis for small business, management, cluster executive development course, entrepreneurship course, preparation of industrial projects, small business ITC and web design, education for entrepreneurs, planning for small business, tourism and hostelry for small business, planning for food industry small business, community risk management, strategies for sustainable farming, advanced certificate in developing educational videos, planning and financial management of energy projects for rural electrification, best practices in systems of power generation and transmission.
