The First Business Forum of Caricom, the Dominican Republic (DR) and Spain in Santo Domingo, DR is taking place at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo. Under the theme, "Business Opportunities in the Caribbean and Europe", the 30-31 May forum is organized within the framework of the European Program ProInvest and the project for Strengthening of Industrial Networks in the CARIFORUM carried out by Spanish association "amec" and the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD).
It is also being held in collaboration with the Association Industry and Trade of the Caribbean (CAIC), and 19 associations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the CARIFORUM have taken part in the organization of the event. These include CAIC, Jamaica Manufacturers Association, Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association, Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries, Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago, and ABCCI.
A Conference Program, followed by a multi-sectorial Business Meeting Event with the participation of companies and business associations from the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica, Suriname and Spain is part of the forum.
Targeted sectors for the business meeting include agricultural products and machinery used in food processing, packaging and printing machinery, plastics & rubber industry machinery, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, machinery for the textile sector, equipment and services for the environment, energy, mining, construction, urban and traffic services and equipment, and Information Technology.
