The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting more rain for this week. Some of the rainfall will be heavy and it is expected to last for the rest of the week because of a low-pressure trough over the eastern part of the island and another low- pressure area near Jamaica. The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday is for increasing rains and strong showers in the southwest, the west and the central mountains. However, temperatures will be high because of the winds from the east-southeast. Onamet is maintaining its alerts for flash flooding and landslides, particularly in Duarte province and the Lower Yuna Basin, and in the province of Sanchez Ramirez.
