Organizations announce protests

The 8% increase in electricity rates beginning today has pushed several organizations to announce a series of protests. The Housewives Association and transport union leader Ramon Perez Figuereo say that they will be organizing these demonstrations. According to El Nuevo Diario, they fear that this increase will punish the poorest sectors of the population and they are asking the President to put all the electricity sector entities under one roof. Perez Figuereo said that the people couldn't take more increases, especially not in the cost of electricity. He also complained of an increase in blackouts.
