Ligia Bonetti de Valiente, president of the Dominican Republic Association of Industries, said yesterday that the government insists on passing the bill of its own excessive spending to the private sector. The AIRD made the comment in response to the new tax package submitted by the Fernandez administration to Congress.
Bonetti expressed her concern about the government sending a bill to Congress under the disguise of increasing the investment in education without consulting the affected sectors. She said that this was a step backwards, because at least in the pass the affected sectors were consulted.
"There does not seem to be the interest in government of stimulating true austerity in the government. We continue to see how the government continues to appoint new officials," as reported in El Caribe.
