I'll be in STI in a few weeks and I need help with choosing the right place to stay. I need a hotel with the following amenities:

A/C
in-room safe
Cable/satellite TV
Hot water
TelephoneI'm looking to pay no more than $50/night.

Any assitance would be appreciated.

Also, I'm looking for a guest-friendly hotel (i.e. no extra charge for chicas). Is it better to book in advance (internet, phone?) or will I be okay just showing up and asking for a room?

Thanks in advance.

Go with the Aloha Sol on Calle Sol, it's central, has the amenities you need (even has its own parking) and is not to difficult on girls, provided they dress modestly and you keep it to 1 a night. If you want to party more, I'd recommend using a cabaņa.

Enjoy

I stayed there and it was okay, especially the internet cafe in the same parking lot with good coffee.

Platino is qite nice but....not walking distance to the action, is a family hotel that will sometimes allow/disallow chicas and charges extra for them...

I'm staying there this weekend (10-13 Nov). I'll post a review when I return.

Looking forward to both a review of the new Marriot and eager to hear what their prices are as well

Is the Colonial the most "centrally located" hotel, walking distance to the Monument and decnt bars/clubs?

You should never walk, always take a taxi and most times they will be about $1-$2.

They have a corporate rate of $99.Including taxes? What do you need to do or say to qualify for the corporate rate?

I stayed at Aloha Sol for a couple of nights last year, small rooms and basic but it has everything, mini bar, fully equiped very central.

Not sure about girls, didn't get lucky.... one student I picked up had dinner/dance and legged it after that !?
