The directors of the Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) hospitals and polyclinics have not received any government subsidies for six months. Lack of supplies and medicines are affecting the work of the medical staff. Diario Libre relayed the complaint expressed yesterday by the president of the Dominican Social Security Institute Doctors' Association (Amidss) Rafael Rodriguez Sandoval who claimed that the government had received RD$2 billion of the accumulated funds from the Administrator of Labor Risk and Health Insurance of the IDSS (ARL-SS). Rodriguez Sandoval asked the government, employers and the authorities of the National Social Security Council (CNSS) to transfer the ARL surplus funds to the IDSS in order to improve the quality and services they provide to the workers.
