According to news reports, retired Brigade General Miguel Antonio Encarnacion de la Rosa, said to have helped merengue star Antonio Peter de la Rosa (Omega) bring in three suitcases without undergoing the routine checks at Las Americas International Airport left the country on Wednesday after an investigation was ordered into the irregularity.
Diario Libre reports that he departed on Wednesday afternoon on a Dutch Caribbean Express flight No. 367 to an unnamed Caribbean island via San Juan, Puerto Rico.
"Despite an investigation into the case having been opened by the authorities into the case at AILA, he was able to depart under the same noses of the bodies in charge of the investigation," reports Diario Libre following up on the case.
Encarnacion, a brigade general with the Dominican Army, had been placed in retirement in August 2010.
El Caribe reports that Antonio Peter de la Rosa (Omega) has declined to comment to the press, saying he is following the advice of his lawyers on the handling of this case.
