President Leonel Fernandez leaves on Thursday for a 10-day tour that will take him to Spain, Jordan, Palestine, Israel and France. He is traveling with Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso, and with his military corps chief, General Hector Belisario Medina, as reported in Diario Libre. The Presidency has not officially announced the trip.
The report says he will depart on the 5:45pm Iberia flight to Madrid. Diario Libre speculates he will meet with business representatives interested in investing in the country and will visit universities.
In Israel, President Fernandez will participate in a seminar on "High Technology and Investment in the DR" on Tuesday, 21 June at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem to promote the DR's high-tech and business sector. This event is being organized by the Dominican Embassy in Israel.
News reports had mentioned Fernandez would travel to Guatemala from the 22-24 June to participate in the International Conference for Support to the Central American Security Strategy that will be attended US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
