Listin Diario reports that PLD Presidential candidacy hopeful Danilo Medina pledged to penalize graft in government if he is elected President. He said he was confident of winning the presidency and would not have friends or party members who are corrupt. "From day one I will tell the members of the cabinet that we are all friends and fellow party members. But that those conditions will not be the same if any of them incurs in fraudulent acts. He said he would convene the cabinet and would ask for accountability in the hypothetical case that one of the members violate the law in that way."
He said that there was not a clear understanding of that problem in Dominican society, because they only seek corruption among politicians when corruption is present in many sectors. He spoke while touring the southwestern provinces of San Juan and Elias Pina.
