Senate president Reinaldo Pared Perez (PLD-National District) commented yesterday that the government does not have to agree with all the International Monetary Funds's recommendations about fiscal reforms that are calling for increases in the ITBIS (VAT), and that the President will make that clear on Tuesday. Perez, who is quoted in El Caribe newspaper, said that any policies that a government puts forward should reflect the realities of the population. Last night, Perez along with other members of the PLD party and the PLD's political committee met with President Fernandez at the Presidential Palace. There was no real word on what was discussed during the meeting, but Perez said that these included the PLD's internal matters.
