Lawyer Maria Magdalena Zorrilla has been arrested in Santiago for allegedly conning businesspeople out of more than RD$100 million, according to Diario Libre. Zorrilla was given the money in order to complete informal financial obligations for her clients, but never carried out the work or returned the money. One of Zorrilla's victims, Juan Ramon Carrasco, filed a complaint through his lawyer. His suspicions were aroused when Zorrilla didn't go to her office where she had worked at for six years and stopped returning phone calls for two days.
