I noticed in DUNEDAIN's latest report he mentioned that during his trip it was a "buyers market" and there were advantages in negotiating with chicas, because it was low season in Sosua, which got me thinking:

*Does anyone know when the peak and low seasons are?

*Do they only coincide with our's (Christmas/ NY, Easter/Spring Break, etc.)?

*What are the advantages of travelling to the DR during peak season?

*What are the advantages of travelling to the DR during low season?

*What are the differences, if any, during peak and low season between the two primary DR destinations BB's and Sosua?

This is just my opinion but i don't think it really matters anymore. Things are so bad in DR that "slow season" is year round which means that it's a "buyer's market" year round tambien.

On a side note, i haven't made an advance hotel reservation in 3 years. And i travel there at all different times of the year.

psriches- That's good to know, because I'm booked at BB's the first 4 nights of my 9 night trip, but I'm thinking about extending it another night, but I thought I'd wait till I get there first. I was thinking of booking at Tiera Linda for my Sosua leg. Do you think I should even make those reservation, or wait till I'm actually there? THANKS!

Again, this is only my opinion. But if it's only a matter of calling them and making the reservation or maybe you wanted a specific room, then by all means call them. But if it means paying up front or leaving a credit card number, then i would wait until i got there. I doubt they'll be booked solid.

I've been during December, January, March, May (not all in same year), and September and never has it seemed slow, busy, or more of a buyers/sellers market at any one time vs. another.

Dec-Jan seemed like more vacancies when I went to BB's. Also, the pool is too cold to enjoy with chicas at that time at BB's. Superbowl week is mad busy. All other times seem the same to me--enough chicas for everyone, cold beer, cuba libres galore etc..

I think the politur crackdown is definitely having an effect on things along with how the environment is being manipulated. Before girls were free to roam so you saw a lot of chicas on the street even before classicos would open, well before. Now with the crackdown I think there is more fear and chicas are not freely roaming and may only be coming around into public view around or exactly when classicos opens.

To me that makes a big difference and changes the way both mongers and chicas are approaching things. That's just my opinion tho, there's guys who are there far more often than me who can clarify if this opinion of mine is inaccurate. I apologize if it is

Ok, I don't really know how to approach this or where to but here goes. I just returned from DR, Santa Domingo, Boca Chica respectively. Reading reports posted before my trip had me a little skeptical concerning crackdowns and availability of chicas. There is nothing to worry about I mean nothing. Satin Dolls, Sky High, Girls House, Lapus and 305 are all in full swing with plenty of chicas (given it's low season). And 305 must have robbed heaven because the chicas in there are no less than 7's all pretty in white, which is the theme party they had when we went there. The Copa disco is alive and well given that the Jaugar Casino is still renovating. Now, prices are still a concern because some chicas insist on nothing less than 3,500 pesos while others can be negotiated to 2000-2500 (a phone comes in handy here).(Now some will say less but I really don't particularly like what I saw for less). One morning I left the casino at 7:00 a.m. and a chica insisted on 100 us at that time in the morning. Asked her if she was fu*** crazy, fine as fu*k still got to be fu*king crazy at that time in the morning. I spent most of my time pulling from satin dolls. Ooo weeeee, never disappointed pulling from here neither my wingman. These girls aimed to please and I have no complaints. Makes me wonder, low season vs. high season, when is the best time to go. Brings me now to Boca Chica, I am wondering if this place did something to some board members given that it is quickly dismissed when bought up and persons are directed to Sosua. Now I must admit that the peddlers and "American Tour Guides", "Hey man where you from?" can be really annoying ok Fuc***g annoying, but if you can get pass that you are in for a great time. All kinds I mean all kinds of chicas lined up after 11:30 p.m. on Duarte waiting for you. Big Puss, skinny puss, tall puss, short puss, round puss, yellow puss, red puss, black puss, small puss, you get it, all kind of puss just there for the taking. And the disco of the night is American, I think that's the name not sure but it's across from another bar the chicas frequent don't quite remember the name I'll get though. Now in boca I stayed at the Don Juan AI. For reasons I'll share later. But for now I'll leave it there and stop here for now. Until I can put together a trip report. For now there is still fun to be had everywhere in Dominican Republic up until Monday July 11, 2011. And with that I'll say this, things do change quickly in the Dominican Republic for example the day I was leaving 11/7/11, the natives stated that a nationwide strike was to take place such events can and cannot effect the day to day operations of a monger's life who knows.

Thanks for posting especially as we are a bit light on info from SD and BC.

Might have been more useful had you split this and posted separate reports in the SD and BC sections, then if any guys add further information it would all be visible to someone thinking of going to those places instead of getting "lost" here.

Looking forward to you trip report(s), hopefully split as suggested.
