In Santiago and The capital, they sell great furniture so there is no reason to ship any.

Check out the message boards on DR1.com.. there's lots of horror stories there about shipping stuff down...
Bottom line, I wouldn't do it..

my girlfriend and her family has shipped alot of stuff to Haiti...the horror stories, thieving, palm greasing and beak wetting that goes on during these transactions are enough for me to be writing all day.
not worth it...take as much as u can by yourself and buy the rest when u are in country.
