The Police say that Crismeide Guerrero (La Gorda) arrested in the case of missing 27-year old Wilma Teresa Martinez Barrientos, confessed that the woman had been murdered and beheaded. Martinez, described as a businesswoman, has been missing since 8 July. The Police reported Guerrero took the police to Km. 5 of the Miches-El Seibo road where the beheaded body was found. Guerrero Crismeide confessed that the victim's head was delivered to a man, unnamed, who allegedly paid RD$2 million. The remains were taken to the Forensic Pathology Institute for verification.
Martinez Barrientos was last seen leaving her house at Residencial Luisa Perla in Higuey. She was known as the owner of an apartment building. She was married to a man named as Jim Di Frisco, described as a resident of Switzerland. She had arrived from Switzerland, where she had lived for several years.
She was last seen going out with three men and two women. She left her baby in the care of Crismeide Guerrero.
As reported in El Caribe, the family said they had received several calls demanding ransom money. The family had offered RD$1 million for information leading to her rescue. An aunt, Bellanirna Martinez had said the kidnappers had asked for RD$2.5 million for the release of Martinez Barrientos but did not allow them to speak with their relative.
This is the second case of a murder of a woman who had returned from Switzerland.
