Two major power plants, San Felipe in Puerto Plata and AES Andres (300 megawatts) in Santo Domingo were shut down for maintenance yesterday. San Felipe will be out of action until 7 September, and AES Andres through Sunday, 21 August. The CDEEE warned that there would be an increase in blackouts with the two plants out of service.
