The Dominican Republic National Symphony Orchestra has announced six concerts for this season. Symphony director, Maestro Jose Antonio Molina, says that several star performers will come for the season. He announced that director Missak Baghboudarian from Syria would be here to celebrate the music of Franz Liszt with two of his concerts for piano and orchestra.

The concerts begin on Wednesday, 31 August at the National Theater.

Also coming are director Hugo Carrio and violinist Ilya Kaler, winner of three gold awards in the top violin contests (Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Paganini). Also performing will be many young talents, the choir of the Judicial Branch and local lyric singers.

"This will be a luxury season not only for the Dominican Republic, but for the region," said Molina upon announcing the concerts.

Others are set for 14, 28 September, and 5, 9 and 26 November.

The season commemorates the 70th anniversary of the National Symphony Orchestra.
