On her Saturday evening show on 20 August, TV investigative journalist Nuria Piera expressed her indignation that Euclides Gutierrez Felix, the government official and executive of the Superintendence of Insurance is getting privileged treatment from the Dominican Electricity Corporation (CDEEE). Celso Marranzini, executive vice president of the CDEEE, denied that Felix was getting special treatment. Piera said, however, that the PLD politician has only paid RD$119,000 of RD$3 million he owes to EdeSur of the CDEEE distribution companies. She said it is not true that he made a payment of RD$200,000 as reported when he met with Celso Marranzini, after Piera broke the story of the debt on her TV show. Marranzini said that the PLD official said he would pay the total debt of RD$3.6 million at the end of August, but would be exempt from paying the penalty for the delay, as reported in acento.com.do (http://acento.com.do)
