President Leonel Fernandez attended the inauguration of the nation's first High Definition television station yesterday evening, using a touch-phone to turn on the lights of the high-tech studio. The new Telemicro studios, headed by Juan Ramon Gomez Diaz, will also carry 3-D television signals. According to Listin Diario, the station, Channel 5, will transmit this year's Casandra Awards, the local show business Grammys, in Hi-Def.
Besides the President, attending the event were First Lady Margarita Cedeno, Attorney General Radhames Jimenez Pena, Senator Amable Aristy Castro, AMET chief General Jose Anibal Sanz Jiminian, and businessman Jose Luis (Pepin) Corripio Estrada.
