The Dominican Naval Auxiliary, a corps of civilian volunteers that provides specialized assistance at sea, were special guests at an international training conference held in the United States.

During the US Coast Guard Auxiliary National Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina, Commodore Jose Antonio Najri of the Dominican Naval Auxiliary reported that to date, his organization is responsible for rescuing and saving 32 lives.

The Dominican Naval Auxiliary has launched a nationwide vessel examination program, working in conjunction with the Dominican Navy. During the assembly, the United Stated Auxiliaries signed a cooperation agreement that includes cooperation in logistics, training in search and rescue procedures, first aid and navigation support. The agreement will provide Dominicans direct access to the operations network and logistics data of the US Coast Guards.

The Auxiliary National commodore Jose Antonio Najri said "We're confident that this agreement will benefit our Navy by providing more specialized assistance for its non-military operations, such as search and rescue, environmental protection and other activities."
