Last night the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) seized 97 packages of cocaine hidden inside 14 iron bars that were being shipped from Haina Port to Barcelona, Spain as part of a scrap metal consignment. The drug haul, estimated to weigh around 103kg, was found in a container full of scrap metal around midnight. Other freight containers in the same shipment are also suspected of carrying drugs. This is the second major seizure registered of cocaine on the dock of Haina in the last week. DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron said that DNCD president Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo personally directed the operation.
