One of the men wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of trader Leonidas Nivar Arias, a brother of the Judge Claribel Nivar Arias, turned himself in to the deputy director of the Department of Criminal Investigations yesterday, accompanied by a Police captain who lives in his neighborhood of Lava Pie in San Cristobal. According to El Nuevo Diario, Cristian Alejandro Rodriguez Medina (Quitin), who was also wanted in relation with the death of Corporal Julian Colon Perez, was handed over by the officer, and is undergoing intense questioning by the investigating officials.
The trader, Rafael Leonidas Nivar Arias was shot and killed while he was inside his car in the company of journalism student Esther Pujols Suero, who was also wounded and who was helped by the gunman himself who took her more than 200 meters from the crime scene for assistance. The Police are actively searching for what they describe as "other persons of interest". The investigating officers are working on the theory that a woman related to the deceased is behind the crime, since the young student was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with the older man, and lives just a few meters for the victim's house.
