Senate approves disabled rights law

The Senate has approved, amidst a flurry of voting, a law that guarantees equal rights for people with disabilities. Senators voted to approve the Organic Law on Equal Rights for Disabled Persons after one reading. The legislation was introduced by Senator Felix Bautista, who quoted the 2010 Constitution that says that the State is obliged to protect the rights of all people. The initiative was supported by Reinaldo Pared Perez, Jose Rafael Vargas, Sonia Mateo, Rafael Calderon, Charles Mariotti, Prim Pujals and Amarilis Santana.
