The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) issued a forecast for rain showers with some thunder and lightning this afternoon. The short and heavy showers are expected to fall in the northeast, southeast and the central mountains. Temperatures will remain high as a result of the prevailing southeast winds. Temperatures will be between 73F and 86F (23C and 30C).
In other news, Onamet is watching the development of Hurricane Katia, which now has sustained winds of 120kph. Katia is located some 1,600 kilometers to the east of the Leeward Islands and is now moving west at 32kph.
