Dominican Republic gold medal winner 34-year old Felix Sanchez was fourth in the 400 hurdles at the World Athletics Championships yesterday. He missed the bronze medal by seven tenths of a second. Sanchez was champion in 2001, 2003 and silver in 2007. The event was won by David Greene with 48.26 seconds, followed by Puerto Rico's Javier Culson with 48.44 and South Africa's LJ Van Zyl with 48.80. Sanchez clocked in at 48.87. He blamed his start for his placing.
Sanchez has the record for perseverance. He is the only person to have competed in the IAAF World Championships six times. This year's event is taking place from 27 August to 4 September 2011 in Daegu, South Korea.
