Investigative TV journalist Nuria Piera had more revelations about Insurance Superintendent and PLD party leader Euclides Gutierrez on her latest show on Saturday, 3 September. In previous broadcasts she revealed he was RD$3 million in arrears with the power distribution company, a privilege she described as unfair in a country where normal people will get their service cut for being one day late in paying the power bill. The revelations led Gutierrez to reach an agreement with the power company to pay his bill that had been on hold due to legal recourse he had underway, that experts say would not work for the normal Dominican.

Now she reveals that Gutierrez has his daughter on the payroll at the Superintendence of Insurance. His daughter is the procurement director for the Superintendence. Piera says this is in violation of the law that prohibits government officials from appointing immediate relatives in the institutions they direct.

In addition, Piera showed viewers that Gutierrez had been on the official payroll during the Trujillo regime. On the Channel 9 TV show, Piera showed a copy of a 1961 check made out by the Partido Domicano, the Trujillo regime political party, for RD$300, as proof that Gutierrez received a monthly payment from the party. Piera said that by November 1961, dictator Trujillo had been assassinated and that Gutierrez Felix maintained his ties to the "repressive apparatus of the dictatorship after the death of the infamous dictator". Piera said that RD$300 in 1961 was the equivalent of RD$300,000 a month today. She pointed out that in 1961, the maximum wage in government was RD$150. She asked on TV what were the services provided by Gutierrez to be deemed worthy of the monthly "special assistance" stipend.
