Senate budget addition

The Senate freed the initiative of all the usual red tape, declared the bill to be urgent and approved the Supplementary Budget Bill sent by the Presidency after two consecutive readings. The legislation increased this year's budget by RD$4.7 billion, and will use the money in primary, secondary and higher education. The legislative proposal was officially sent to the Senate by the Executive Branch yesterday and was approved by the unanimous vote of the 21 senators present in the session. Of the total amount of resources, RD$4.3 will be spent on primary and secondary education and the other RD$400 million will go towards higher education. The funds of the Supplementary Budget come from the additional funds that are generated by the application of Law 139-11 (July 2011 tax increases) and the premium collected for the placement of the US$500 million in bonds on the international markets.
