View Full Version : Onamet is watching a low-pressure wave

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is closely observing a low-pressure tropical wave and a low-pressure trough that are closing in on the island. The tropical wave is currently located over Puerto Rico and is moving west at 32 kilometers an hour. Onamet is also watching Tropical Storm Maria, located out in the Atlantic, some 1,435 kilometers from the Leeward Islands and moving west at 37kph. Katia is no longer in our area but there are some heavy waves along the northern shoreline. The local forecast is predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms in Monte Plata, Samana, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, La Altagracia, La Romana, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macoris, Dajabon, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde, Elias Pina, San Juan de la Maguana, Bahoruco and Independencia.
