An exhibition by Marcelo Ferder taking place from 1 September to 30 September at the National Art Gallery at the Palacio de Bellas Artes pays tribute to the chaos of Santo Domingo. The works on show are described as original, inspiring creations, easily replicated by the teacher from the Altos de Chavon School of Design. The exhibit More than Urban Art and Recycling (Mas que Urbano Arte y Reciclaje) is made up of 18 works.

Introducing the exhibition, National Art Gallery director Marianne de Tolentino, said that the art was social critique that reflected the chaos of Santo Domingo.

Speaking at the opening, Ferder said that the most serious attitude one can have today is not to be serious, but rather to transmit meaning a la Woody Allen. He said the exhibit seeks to see from a distance what we don't see because we see it everyday, and this is why he has created art from trash.
