Frank Micheli, president of La Romana's Toros Baseball team has announced that the Toros (The Bulls) are working on assembling a team to defend the Dominican professional baseball championship crown.

In an interview with Hoy newspaper, Micheli said the team was successful, not only in the competitive aspect but in integration and identification with the town of La Romana.

Micheli highlights the way that women in La Romana have got into baseball. He says that now most spectators are female. "And that's an interesting phenomenon, because before a woman would fight with her husband or boyfriend when he was going to the stadium," said Micheli. "Now it's different because it is the woman who reminds him not to make any commitment because the Toros are playing that day," he adds.

Micheli believes that the Toros have won the hearts of much of the eastern region.

Micheli said the orange color identifies the Toros and that the use of this color, as suggested by Ricardo Bello, changed the face of the team. He recalled that the introduction of the orange color was the result of an agreement with Major League Baseball and the Aguilas Cibaenas, who used it occasionally.

"Nothing is impossible," says Micheli, who recalls the past so-called Sugar Cane Series, starring the two eastern teams, the Toros and the Estrellas (Eastern Stars).
