Three cops arrested

The authorities have arrested three police officers in San Cristobal, in connection with the theft of dozens of motorcycles from the parking lot of the Juan Pablo Pina Hospital in the city center. The three cops, one of whom is a member of the custodial force at the Najayo prison, are said to be involved in a criminal gang that that has been in operation for some time, according to El Nuevo Diario. Last night dozens of people whose motorcycles had been stolen went to the San Cristobal Police Headquarters to identify the alleged assailants. According to sources on the scene, the local commander, Colonel Pedro Cuevas Valenzuela said that by order of the Chief of the National Police, Jose Armando Polanco Gomez, the agents would be dismissed from the force and taken into custody to face charges.
